Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty conveyed to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Arab nations are united in opposing US President Donald Trump’s proposal to displace Palestinians in Gaza and assume control of the territory.
In a statement, Egypt’s foreign ministry explained that during his meeting in Washington, Abdelatty emphasized the urgency of accelerating Gaza’s reconstruction while the Palestinian population remains in the area.
Arriving in Washington the previous day, Abdelatty expressed his eagerness to collaborate with the new US administration to promote “comprehensive and just peace and stability” across the region, as noted in the statement.
Egypt’s foreign ministry further asserted that the international community must come together to address the “historic injustice” faced by Palestinians and restore their “legitimate and inalienable rights.”
Trump’s plan has faced widespread international condemnation, with both regional and global leaders warning that such a proposal would jeopardize regional stability.
