Egypt Upholds Morsi Death Sentence

morsiAn Egyptian court on Tuesday upheld a death sentence for disposed President Mohamed Morsi in relation to a 2011 jailbreak, saying that it had consulted with religious authorities who approved the ruling.

Morsi was originally sentenced to death this year, but Egyptian custom states that death sentences should be approved by the nation’s top cleric.

Earlier today, the court also sentenced Morsi to life in prison for spying—allegedly for Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. Read more at CBC News.
