Israeli airline El Al and American airline Delta announced today (Thursday) a groundbreaking new strategic cooperation agreement. The agreement includes mutual code-sharing for flights between Israel and the US, as well as the option for connecting flights operated by both airlines to and from the US.

This partnership marks El Al’s most significant collaboration to date and brings a multitude of benefits. It allows El Al to enhance its offerings by increasing seat capacity and flight frequencies to US destinations, expanding the route network through direct and connecting flights with Delta. This enables El Al to provide a superior travel experience to a broader range of customers, offering flights at various times throughout the week.

In addition to these advantages, the agreement encompasses an expansion of services for luxury passengers. Furthermore, in the future, the two airlines plan to facilitate club sharing, enabling members of El Al’s frequent flyer program to earn and redeem points on Delta flights, and vice versa.

Passengers of both El Al and Delta will enjoy an enhanced travel experience between Tel Aviv and the US. The collaboration between the two airlines expands flight options, increases frequency, and improves connectivity throughout North America, leveraging Delta’s extensive network that includes direct flights to major cities like New York, Boston, Atlanta, and more.

Travelers who purchase combined flight tickets for El Al and Delta can benefit from streamlined travel arrangements. This includes a single check-in process for the entire journey, issuance of boarding passes at the point of origin, and seamless luggage transfer until the final destination. Delta, with up to 200 daily connecting flights from various US locations, complements El Al’s offering of a wide range of direct flights to Tel Aviv from cities such as Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, New York (JFK), and Newark.

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Working together with El Al will further strengthen Delta’s connection to Israel by being able to offer our customers direct access to destinations throughout the US.”

Shlomi Zafrani, EL AL Vice President of Commerce and International Affairs, shared his enthusiasm as well, saying, “We are happy to offer our customers new ways to discover exciting destinations across the ocean through our partnership with Delta. This agreement is a significant milestone in the realization of our long-term strategic plan, providing a unique value proposition to luxury customers and upgrading the overall travel experience. Delta’s status as one of the leading airlines in the world makes the connection between our companies natural and exciting, both for our customers and for us.”
