  1. They do it on purpose, for security reasons, so would be terrorists won’t know when they’re taking off.
El Al stands for- Every Landing Always Late

  2. I had to say something here: I say but you arrived in one piece, the plane arrived in one piece, no one was shot, the plane was not confiscated by terrorists, and the 12hr or 15 hour ride was not unpleasant at all, and the black boxes every morning did not blow up they were our safety measure for a good arrival. What is there to complain about????
And also the food was excellent and service was great.

  3. For security reasons these statistics are bound to be wrong. El Al planes are already on the ground and empty at the “official” landing time as listed on the boards in the airport and everywhere else. This is specifically for security. Take off time is also listed wrong. No El Al flight takes off until way after the “official” take off time. In fact, there is enough time left for several other planes to take off.

  4. not surprising. did any of you ever try to get a room full of yentas to stop talking and sit down… now imagine getting a plane full of them to stop talking and sit…

  5. Doesn’t it depend on the airport when the planes take off and land? Maybe el al happens to operate in the airports with more traffic jams. It’s kind of silly to compare landing times for airlines flying completely different routes.

  6. EL Al always has set the gold standard for security, with real checks for possible terrorists as opposed to TSA which looks at what you are carrying as opposed to profiling a possible terrorist. Better safe ( and late) than sorry.

  7. They may leave late but, I think they always catch up and land on time. I traveled with them a few times and except for the tight seating they were okay in all other respects.

  8. If they rate the passengers and compare them to those on the top rated on time departure airlines, you’ll find it’s a significant variable. Just think: all the men requesting switches away from women, people asking for drinks, freebies and all sorts of assistance. Everyone’s carry-on overstuffed and jamming the overheads from closing. Questions about the movie, meal and crying babies and extra blankets. Loitering and not listening when told to sit and turn off cell phones. Need I go on?

  9. We arrived in Israel Sunday evening. The pilot announced an hour and a half before landing that the fast ( asarah bteves) is over and we could all eat now. Which airline does that?

  10. So being late is due to security hmmmm just a thought maybe elal could actualy plan and organise because thier security systen is a joke.

They claim good service, well i fly a lot and i can say the service rates as normal, most airline staff or normaly ok with you during normal days, during abnormal situations they collaps like house of cards. Elal is no diffrent.
Cabin crew is average ane food is a little under average.

  11. hi i used to fly with elal a lot but lately stopped after having delays for 6/5 hours in ben gurion sevaral times, i used to fly for security reasons but its just not worth it to always be late (btw the reason they r always late is because the pilots get for every 12 hours flying, a hotel room and a business class ticket for the way back (that was 1 of the major spats btwn the management and pilots a few weeks ago) whereas other airlines dont give those perks and therefore the pilotsr not intrested in flying late )
besides the point that i have had only bad experience with the staff, food ,entertainment, narrow seats ect… they’ve actually been very mean and gruffy to my family so dump elal there r much better airlines out there

  12. EL AL SECURITY IS THE BEST!!! THATS WHY THEY MIGHT RUN LATE.
EL AL RETURNED 14,000$ A FAMILY MEMBER LEFT ON THE FLIGHT
EL AL RETURNED MY REAL DIAMOND EARRING WHEN IT FELL OFF ME ON THE FLIGHT
EL AL HAS MANY MANY MORE MAALOS THAN MOST AIRLINES AND THEREFOR, WHO CARES IF THEY’RE LATE?????????? YOU CANT HAVE EVERYTHING!!!

  13. The explanation for Elal being late is far simpler:Jewish Standard Time.
Furthermore, I don’t care when they take off as long as I get to my destination safely and I feel safest with an Israeli pilot and Israeli security. So unless there is a huge difference in cost for the flight my choice is Elal every time.
