ronald-brockmeyerAfter a report from the Department of Justice issued a report accusing him of using his court to fund the city on the backs of poor minorities, Ronald Brockmeyer, the municipal judge in Ferguson, has resigned.

In addition, the Missouri Supreme Court has ordered that all Ferguson municipal cases be transferred to the state’s Court of Appeals.

Brock issued a statement about his resignation, and while he said it was untrue that he had been unfair to poor minorities who were on his court, and blamed the court clerk and police, he said he recognized that the DOJ report had “diminished the public confidence in the Ferguson Municipal Court.” Read more at St. Louis Public Radio.

  1. Now maybe we can stop New York City from doing the same thing. The only difference is that NYC doesn’t just do it against poor minorities, NYC does it against everyone!

  2. I think I get the justice departments thinking now: Now that we’ve ruined the lives of officer Wilson and judge brockmeyer, who else’s live can we ruin to make black criminals feel good about themselves?

  3. Hey Charlie Hall, it is a big problem in certain St. Louis Municipalities. Interestingly enough, one of those municipalities that is almost certainly as bad as Ferguson in this regard is represented by the lawyer for the family of Michael Brown. The municipality is called Bel-Nor. I have railed against these money making municipalities for years. They will ticket anyone, black or white. I don’t see the Brown attorney, a black man, saying anything about his client. Such hypocricy. He should resign.
