Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams now holds a significant lead in the New York City mayoral race — jumping six points ahead of rival Andrew Yang, according to a new poll conducted in May and released Monday.
Adams tops the field with 22 percent of first choice votes, followed by Andrew Yang at 16 percent, and former sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia at 15 percent, the NY1/ IPSOS poll of likely Democratic voters shows.
This is an impressive jump for the ex-police captain, who trailed Yang by 9 percent in April’s poll.
Garcia’s support also shot up 11 percent from April following New York Times and Daily News endorsements of the former de Blasio administration official.
Meanwhile, Comptroller Scott Stringer held steady at 10 percent, losing only 1 prcent of his support in NY1’s gauging of the race.
