Former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s conviction in a multi-million dollar corruption case has been overturned, CBS News reports.
Silver, once one of the most powerful people in New York state politics, was convicted in 2015 of fraud, extortion and money laundering for accepting bribes and kickbacks of nearly $5 million.
Prosecutors said he amassed more than $2 million in assets and arranged to receive a $70,000 annual pension from the state.
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison, but was allowed to remain free pending his appeal, which he won, Thursday, at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in Manhattan.
Prosecutors may decide to retry the 73-year-old Silver. Read more at CBS News.

“HE IS NOW OFFICIALLY A TZADICK” I guess it takes one to know one.
Baruch Hashem, another Yid is spared from going to prison. It is not a pleasant place to be. He made some mistakes (we all do) and was embarrassed in public over it. Hopefully he has learned from his mistakes and will be a better person for it.
“big people talk about ideas, medium people talk about things< and small people talk about other people"
If his conviction was overturned that means he’s innocent. So what were his mistakes??
It does not mean he is innocent; he got freed on a technicality. He caused a major Chillul Hashem for no reason. He’s gonna need a lot more than Pesicha by Neelah.
And who are YOU? What do YOU have in your closet?
