Matzav.com has learned exclusively that Yeshivas Brisk, led by Rav Avrohom Yehoshua Soloveitchik, will be opening a branch in Lakewood, NJ.

The news comes as many bochurim have been dealing with travel issues related to Covid-19 restrictions.

According to one source, preliminary plans have Rav Avrohom Yehoshua’s son, Rav Chaim, relocating to Lakewood to deliver the shiur at the yeshiva.

The new yeshiva is seen as competition to the influx of Kodshim yeshivos that have opened in Lakewood of late.

The yeshiva will be opening in a vacant location right next door to the Yismach Yisroel Ice Cream Shop on Lexington Avenue, a prime location in the heart of the Ihr HaTorah.

Meals at the yeshiva will be catered by Eizikovitz Caterers and the Co-op. Bochurim of the yeshiva will also receive a 20% discount at Falafel-n-Chips.

The Lakewood Planning Board will be meeting this coming week to approve a variance for use of the building as a yeshiva, as it is currently zoned for strict residential use.

The bochurim will be sleeping in the Irv dormitory, which will be leased by Yeshivas Brisk Lakewood™ for a period of two years, at which time the contract will be reexamined.

All talmidim must be vaccinated and will also be required to attend a weekly Zoom meeting of the Chumash shiur in Yeshivas Brisk, broadcast live from Rechov Press in Yerushalayim.

New talmidim will be required to wait 36 months before being allowed entry into shiur. At that point, they will undergo a new rigorous farher process.

Those who wish to apply to join Yeshivas Brisk Lakewood™ for the spring/summer zeman must send in their applications to the yeshiva no later than March 5. To request an application, email [email protected].

Applicants are required to submit high school diplomas in order to be considered for acceptance. Also, documentation of vaccinations for MMR and second measles, Meningitis and a full course of Hepatitis B must be submitted to the yeshiva. Those who participated in MJI programs after September 30, 2012, will not be accepted.

For those bochurim who live out of the tri-state area and are currently learning in Eretz Yisroel, there will be interviews on Shushan Purim to accommodate those who have fully completed the application process.

  1. The question is what does H’ want: Torah to be taught to the entire Am Yisroel without creating barriers and artificial shortage of space, or exclusively to the supposed elites?! Why can’t any Yid just walk in to any yeshiva or any shiur, and be welcomed?! You can’t retort with something like you need to create the top-quality talmidei chachomim before you start caring for the rest of Yidden, as you need one crucial ingredient – siata dishmya, which is not granted to the elitists. How do I know? Look at the results – no new gaons were produced in the past couple of decades, to say the least. Stop all the cheshbonos, and just do what H’ wants – the entire Am Yisroel – no man left behind!

    • The fact that we don’t have more geonim today i believe is because we have sacrificed eichus for kammus. in other words since yeshivos and schooling is so widespread (BH) so is the knowledge because it has to necessarily be taught to a wide array of people. In the past there were 1 or 2 mitzuyanim per town because all the resources were spent on them.

      my 2 cents

    • Thats a very silly argument. This system has brought about the greatest Torah Scholars in the world. The hashkafos these days are so infiltrated by outside influences. It’s not like everyone doesn’t have a yeshiva. There are yeshivos for everyone and everyones level; people need to be honest with themselves and their level and search for their level yeshiva.

      • To all the defenders of elitism, contrary to your “cheshbonos” elitism does not lead to gadlus. In fact, the opposite is true. Elitism leads to mediocrity at best, and to of-the-derech as the more likely scenario. Remember how the smoke screen of this world works: humans can try all they want, but it is H’ that actually makes things happen. H’ will make you maztliach if you are an idealist and work for the entire Am Yisroel, and you will become an eternal laughing stock if you are a “pragmatist” and work for your personal shtick. Gadlus can only be produced when EVERY Yid is treated as a precious stone in our educational system. Anything else is a sheker and cannot succeed.

  2. “ Applicants are required to submit high school diplomas in order to be considered for acceptance.” was the only thing that gave it away to me, otherwise you had me going line hook and sinker.

  3. “EXCLUSIVE” was the perfect word choice with which to open the header since that’s exactly how the Kichels felt when rejected.

  4. As soon as you see the Falafel N’ Chips, you know it’s a joke…… the store hasn’t been around for about a decade……… ( But I do miss it )

  5. Wicked joke! Disgusting to play around with people’s feelings like that! I got so excited that Brisk is opening a branch, and then I realized it’s a joke. really not nice!
