A report issued by the Health Ministry in Israel revealed shocking findings about the conduct of renowned surgeon Dr. Ziv Gil, who was once considered a star in Israel’s healthcare system. He is the former director of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck Surgery at Haifa’s Rambam Health Care Campus.

Together with his colleagues, Gil allegedly performed unnecessary operations to increase the department’s prestige and maximize personal profits.

The Health Ministry report followed an investigative article published by Haaretz in 2020, which exposed the department’s practice of scheduling as many nasal surgeries as possible, even when the tests did not support the need for the operations. This enabled Gil to rake in over $1.7 million over four years in addition to his regular salary.

A Health Ministry team concluded that 45% of the operations performed by Gil were unnecessary or marred by serious flaws. Patients were put at risk of complications and repeat surgeries.

Gil resigned from his position, but denies the allegations.

  1. Anything connected to the Mas Hachnasa or Misrad Habriut shouldnt be believed all the way. This govt is a money sucking govt and they would love for all doctors to have equal pay, equal treatment and equal access to medicine. They cant believe that one of their doctors were this successful and became this rich. It’s a socialistic system!
