Eye-Opening Report: Wuhan Lab Engineered Dangerous Mutant Coronaviruses

A recent report suggests that scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China deliberately combined dangerous coronaviruses to create mutant viruses just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, investigators claim that the Chinese military was involved in biological weapons research while providing funding to the Wuhan lab. The Sunday Times published this alarming report, alleging that China engineered mutant coronaviruses for malevolent purposes, including the potential use of these viruses as bioweapons and the development of a vaccine for Chinese citizens.

According to the report, U.S. State Department investigators were granted access to classified intelligence on the activities in China preceding the emergence of COVID-19. The investigators were able to analyze metadata, phone information, and internet data intercepted by U.S. intelligence services. The Sunday Times spoke with three members of the investigative team who revealed that Wuhan scientists were conducting experiments on a coronavirus called RaTG13, sourced from the Mojiang mine. The report further claimed that covert military research, including animal experiments, took place at the Wuhan Institute of Virology before the pandemic.

The Wuhan lab allegedly worked on nine different variants of COVID, as per a source. The origins of this research can be traced back to 2012 when six individuals clearing an abandoned copper mine in the Mojiang region of southern China became infected with a mysterious illness resembling fever, coughs, and pneumonia. Although these men did not test positive for any known diseases, they had antibodies for an unknown coronavirus. Notably, the cave in Mojiang housed a large bat colony, and bat feces were scattered throughout the cave.

Dr. Shi Zhengli, a prominent Chinese researcher known as “bat woman,” led a team that recovered a virus from the Mojiang cave in Yunnan province. Around 2018, the Wuhan Institute of Virology reportedly started combining SARS-like viruses with the cave virus (WIV1) using the lab’s initials. Rutgers University Professor Richard Ebright described this project as the most dangerous coronavirus experiment ever undertaken.

The combined viruses proved to be 75% lethal to albino mice with human-like lungs, three times more deadly than the original WIV1. The Sunday Times mentioned that this genetically modified virus, although not COVID-19, could have been even more lethal if accidentally released. The gain-of-function experiment received partial funding from EcoHealth Alliance but was not disclosed in a progress report to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by Peter Daszak, the president of EcoHealth Alliance.

The Sunday Times revealed that Daszak later applied for additional funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) but was rejected. The application proposed conducting experiments to find new SARS viruses and mix them with deadly strains from the Shitou cave to observe the outcomes. In November 2019, several researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology reportedly fell ill and displayed symptoms similar to COVID-19. It is claimed that one laboratory worker’s relative died from the same unidentified illness. Investigators believed that the researchers’ advanced coronavirus experiments likely led to their sickness.

During the early stages of the outbreak, which preceded global awareness of the mystery virus, the Wuhan lab was conducting hazardous experiments, according to two U.S. researchers who collaborated with the institute. The investigators also found evidence of “serial passaging” experiments on one of the mine viruses. This process involves infecting lab animals with viruses, monitoring their health, and selecting the most harmful strain for subsequent experiments to encourage pathogen mutations. The investigators spoke to an insider at the Wuhan Institute of Virology who claimed that RaTG13 was subjected to serial passaging with humanized mice, expediting the natural mutation process.

Dr. Steven Quay, a U.S. scientist involved in the State Department’s investigation, stated that there is no known instance of a bat virus directly infecting and killing humans. Quay believes that COVID-19 was engineered by inserting a furin cleavage site into one of the mine viruses and subsequently serial passaging it through humanized mice. He submitted a statement to the U.S. Senate detailing this process, explaining that within weeks, the directed evolution would produce a virus capable of killing every humanized mouse. This would explain the virus’s early adaptation to infect humans.

The Sunday Times noted that information about these experiments remains unpublished due to the top-secret nature of the Chinese military-funded program. U.S. State Department investigators concluded that the Wuhan Institute of Virology had been conducting research on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017. The report suggests that the Chinese military was interested in developing a vaccine for these viruses to potentially use them as bioweapons, granting a country the ability to inoculate its population against its own secret virus.

The Sunday Times further disclosed that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had its own vaccine specialist, Zhou Yusen, who collaborated with Wuhan scientists on studying the MERS coronavirus. Suspicion arose regarding Zhou after the pandemic due to his remarkably swift patent application for a COVID vaccine in February 2020, just over a month after the virus outbreak was announced. A report published in April, co-authored by Dr. Robert Kadlec, responsible for the U.S. vaccine development program, concluded that Zhou’s team must have been working on a vaccine no later than November 2019.
