Facebook on Thursday announced that it removed ads from President Donald Trump’s campaign that contained a symbol associated with Nazis.

“We removed these posts and ads for violating our policy against organized hate,” a Facebook spokesman said in a statement. “Our policy prohibits using a banned hate group’s symbol to identify political prisoners without the context that condemns or discusses the symbol.”

The ads contained red downward-pointing triangles, which the Nazis used to mark political prisoners. The symbol was used in ads by Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the Trump campaign.

  1. The campaign used the triangle as part of a series of “danger” signs used by the Trump campaign (upside-down red-triangle is found as YIELD signs, among others).

The one used in the campaign is an emoji – Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name “Down-Pointing Red Triangle” and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015. So Facebook is banning an official emoji (only when used by trump it seems).

And what about the “Holocaust Memorial Day 27/1” symbol – also an upside-down triangle – that (except for the label on it) looked exactly like one of those Nazi symbols displayed in Wikipedia (Nazi_concentration_camp_badge) ?

So let’s ban the entire Latin alphabet itself and Arabic numerals (used to brand Jews in the camps) that was used by the Nazis.
