False Media Reports of Layoffs at Kosher Valley®

kosher-valleyMedia reports from upstate New York regarding the termination of 98 employees of the Kosher Valley® brand are incorrect. The terminated employees had been employed by Hain Pure Protein Corporation (HPP), owners of the Plainville facility — not by Kosher Valley®. HPP sold the Kosher Valley® brand, but not the Plainville plant, in May 2010 and is not authorized to use the “Kosher Valley®” name.

The Kosher Valley® brand is now owned by Empire Kosher Poultry and processed at its Mifflintown, PA plant. Empire Kosher is not laying off employees. In fact, Empire Kosher’s turkey processing is running at full capacity heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.

Empire Kosher Poultry, Inc. purchased the Kosher Valley® brand from Hain Pure Protein Corporation on May 14, 2010. This sale included all logos and trademarks. Any use of Kosher Valley® trademarks by HPP, including on the letterhead of termination notices to HPP employees, is entirely unauthorized.
