The family of a Texas woman who once portrayed Aunt Jemima has called on the breakfast brand to reconsider its decision to scrap the ubiquitous fixture from its products.

Vera Harris said the family takes pride in Quaker Oates scouting her second cousin Lillian Richard to become a brand representative in 1925, news station KLTV reported.

“She was considered a hero in [her hometown of] Hawkins, and we are proud of that. We do not want that history erased,” Harris said.

  1. the idea to rebrand is beyond disgusting. the picture of this smiling, beautiful grandmotherly woman welcoming everyone to enjoy breakfast has absolutely nothing to do with the color of her skin. the fact that all these great companies are kowtowing to the wishes of rabblerousers is beyond comprehension. this country has lost it’s collective mind

  2. Aunt Jemima doesn’t portray Blacks in a bad light. Quite the opposite. She looks like warm, motherly person. Who can fault that?

    • Why not let a black person make that call. Would you feel good if someone commented how a Jewish picture you felt was racist was favorably portrayed.

  3. Jemima = ימימה.

ימימה was one of the daughters of איוב, see ספר איוב, פרק מב,
    where it says

This comes from the old times when black people, and people in general, were more connected to the Holy Bible. Instead of worshiping sports figures, they venerated the Bible, and took names from it.

These leftist protesters know want to erase that heritage? Shameful.

  4. (From a history lesson, circa 2238):
There is much we don’t know about our past. Much has been lost to time, and much more was destroyed in the Histrionic Purges of 2020-2015. Of those years we know that a manic frenzy swept through the member states of the former United States of America. Rule of law was seemingly suspended as protests turned to riots and later devolved into complete anarchy. Many of the politically biased elected officials stood by and did nothing, while others actually aided and supported this mayhem. During those days of madness, most historical figures of the past were judged by the mobs to be unworthy, and all mention of them was struck from the public view. This started with the removal and destruction of any representation of them, such as portraits, photos, and monuments, and advanced to the point where all mention of them was struck from public record and historic records. The wanton destruction was so great, that today we do not even know what their alleged sins were or what contribution they had made which caused them to become public figures in the first place. Most were completely forgotten in the mists of time, and all we know are a few of the names of these forgotten people, such as George Washington, Harriet Tubman, Thomas Edison, John F. (we believe the F stood for Franklin) Kennedy, Barak Obama, and a few more….

  5. They don’t want to make history or change the course of it. They want to re-write it. They want it to read/teach that:
    Minorities were always oppressed.
    They were never given opportunities.
They never made their way into society as doctors, politicians, lawyers, judges, actors/actresses, plumbers, electricians, builders, business owners, maintenance personnel, teachers, cooks, and care-givers.
