Dr. Anthony Fauci, a member of President Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force and the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is set to throw out the first pitch when Major League Baseball resumes this week.

But Fauci just last month was warning that the National Football League, not to mention college football, might not need to play at all, unless players are kept in a “bubble” to keep them safer from coronavirus.

“Unless players are essentially in a bubble — insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day — it would be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall. If there is a second wave, which is certainly a possibility and which would be complicated by the predictable flu season, football may not happen this year,” Fauci told CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta in early June.

  1. This psychotic lunatic needs to be arrested and jailed asap.
He’s a dangerous felon on the loose and a fake news media darling.

  2. Dr Fauci is not the typical joe in a bar espousing a half-baked thought. The same way we revere the Rishonim and attribute any partial understanding to our misunderstanding, that is the approach here. A brief search shows that he is one of the most cited scientists alive, and one of the most respected. The simple answer to your question is that baseball as opposed to football is non-contact sport. There is no huddle in MLB. The only other consideration is the dugout (and certain plays- like running into home with the catcher etc) which can be made safely given the more space from lack of crowds. The difference in having expertise vs not is the ability to say I don’t know. The expert questions himself and his understanding while the novice questions others and their understanding.

  4. The NFL and it’s CEO Colin Kaepernick should be shut down for good. It has become a branch of the BLM and Antifa.
