FBI agents stormed onto a packed JetBlue plane in New York after a radio error sparked fears the flight may have been hijacked. A massive police response was triggered at John F. Kennedy International when the aircraft lost radio contact at around 8 p.m. Tuesday, just before the plane was due to take off.

The flight crew managed to re-establish the connection around 15 minutes later but, by that point the police emergency protocols couldn’t be called off, ABC News reports. Around 160 passengers were left terrified, with photos on social media showing some with their hands up in the air as heavily armed officers inspected the flight. “Woah. My worst nightmare,” one passenger, blogger Alexa Curtis, wrote in a tweet. “I honestly thought we were going to die. I AM ALIVE THANK GOSH I MEDITATE.” Read more at ABC News.
