Today in government surveillance: FBI Director Robert Mueller told the Senate Judiciary Committee that his agency uses surveillance drones in the U.S. Asked about the FBI’s use of drones, Mueller said that the agency does use them, but “in a very, very minimal way, very seldom.”
Federal agencies use drones to patrol the northern and southern borders of the U.S. and occasionally for law-enforcement operations, like earlier this year when an Alabama man held a boy hostage in his bunker. Mueller said he wasn’t sure what happens to the images recorded by the drones. Read more at The Wall Street Journal.
