The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that e-cigarettes face an uncertain future in U.S. markets unless youth smoking rates drop over the next year.

Speaking at a public hearing Friday in Silver Spring, Md., FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said he could see the entire category of e-cigarette and vaping products removed from store shelves if companies don’t stop marketing such products to youth.

“I’ll tell you this. If the youth use continues to rise, and we see significant increases in use in 2019, on top of the dramatic rise in 2018, the entire category will face an existential threat,” he said. E-cigarette use spiked 78 percent among high school students and 48 percent among middle school students over the last year, with about 1.5 million young people taking up the habit from 2017 to 2018.

  1. these devices should be regulated heavily, too many young people (read 10-16 years old) have been getting addicted to them. And unfortunately, the “frum” purveyors of these products have been a large part of the problem.

  2. Yes I hope they take them off the shelfs. My little brother (13 years old) just confided in me that he vapes and he’s buying an ecig sometime this week…. crazy world

  5. Please,

While I agree it sounds crazy and I would never allow my 13 yo to touch them, but realistically speaking, what is really wrong with them?

In my opinion, tech addiction is way worse in the teenage world out there. There are plenty food they consume that are worse as well.
