Republican congressman Michael Grimm is facing criminal charges from federal prosecutors, and even his lawyer’s not surprised, though he dutifully maintains his client has done nothing wrong.
“When the dust settles, he will be vindicated,” Grimm’s lawyer said in a statement on Friday.
Grimm faces charges for alleged campaign violations. He accepted $250,000 to $300,000 in contributions from followers of an Israeli rabbi, though members of the congregation later said that tens of thousands of dollars were made in illegal contributions, including gifts passed through straw donors.
