First Look At Doomed Titan Submersible As It’s Hauled Ashore In Canada

On Wednesday, the wreckage of the ill-fated Titan submarine, which met its demise by imploding ten days ago during a deep-sea expedition to the Titanic, was finally sighted. The mangled remains of the submersible were carefully brought ashore by a crane from the recovery vessel upon its arrival in Canada.

Despite efforts to conceal it, photographs revealed the damaged electronics and the recognizable circular window of the nose cone, according to reports from Canada Press.

The retrieval of the debris was carried out by Pelagic Research Services, a US-based organization. Their dedicated team aboard the Horizon Arctic ship has tirelessly worked for ten consecutive days, overcoming physical and mental challenges. They utilized specialized remotely controlled vehicles to locate the shattered sub approximately 12,500 feet underwater, a few hundred feet away from the Titanic wreckage it was intended to explore.

The company commended their team, stating, “Bravo, and welcome back! You have executed your duties flawlessly, filling us with immense pride.”

The recovered debris will be thoroughly examined as part of ongoing investigations conducted by both US and Canadian authorities to shed light on the tragic incident.

Officials believe the Titan submarine suffered a catastrophic implosion shortly after commencing its dive on Father’s Day. The pilot, Stockton Rush, 61, CEO of Titan sub, has faced significant scrutiny for allegedly neglecting critical safety concerns while allowing affluent tourists to pay $250,000 each for the ill-fated excursion.

The fatalities include Stockton Rush, French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77, British billionaire Hamish Harding, 58, prominent Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, 48, and his 19-year-old son, Sulaiman Dawood.

The US and Canadian authorities are actively investigating the tragic incident.
