hurricane-sandy5A message from Achiezer:

We have been strongly advised that no one should attempt evacuating at this point. Numerous roadways are closed, or flooded out.

Do not leave your place of shelter or attempt driving on the streets at this point. The danger of falling trees & power lines have significantly increased over the last hour. We wish to reiterate that we are not meteorologists nor do we wish to cause panic. We are just passing on that the forecasters are predicting very difficult weather over the next few hours and we should all be as prepared as possible.

If you know of any elderly or handicapped people that may be living alone, try to maintain contact with them to ensure their safety and well-being.

Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder has informed us that as of 7 PM the Marine Park Bridge, as well as the Cross Bay Bridge will be closed for the duration of the storm.

If there are any safety concerns whatsoever please do not hesitate to call our office which has staff manning the phones throughout the day. The number again is 516-791-4444

If you have a medical emergency, call Hatzolah immediately at 718-387-1750 or 718-230-1000

This message has been prepared in conjunction with Achiezer, Hatzolah, NYC OEM, Nassau County OEM, Office of the Town of Hempstead, Village of Lawrence, RCSP, and the office of Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder.
