flroida-gov-charlie-cristFlorida Gov. Charlie Crist believes in the power of prayer.
He told a group of real estate agents Friday that Florida has been hurricane free thanks to prayer notes he placed on the Kosel in Yerushalayim. He said each year he has placed them there or has asked someone to place them. The notes, he said, say this: “Dear God, please protect our Florida from storms and other difficulties. Charlie.”

He said he left the first note in 2007 during a trade mission to Israel. The following year, he gave the note State Sen. Nan Rich and this year he gave the note to a friend.

He also asked the group of assembled agents to keep one thing in mind: “…I would ask you all to say a prayer.”

Crist, a Methodist, said he doesn’t take credit for Florida being spared from hurricanes. He credits a higher power.

“Time goes on — May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December — no hurricanes,” Crist said. “Thank God.”
