Florida Senate Race Headed For Manual Recount

Florida election officials ordered a manual recount of the ballots in the tight Senate race after a machine tally showed Republican Rick Scott leading Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson by 12,600 votes out of the nearly 8.2 million cast.

In the governor’s race, former congressman Ron DeSantis, the Republican, held a 0.41 percent lead over Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum at the start of the recount, outside the 0.25 percent threshold for a hand recount, the Washington Post reported.

Walker bemoaned the lawsuits and the Florida legislature’s response to historic election problems, such as the 2000 presidential race, which was ultimately decided in favor of George W. Bush by the Supreme Court.

“We have been the laughingstock of the world election after election. But we’ve still chosen not to fix this,” he groused.
