Florida surpassed 100,000 coronavirus cases Monday — as new infections continue to surge in the state.

The bleak milestone comes with bars, gyms and movie theaters reopened at partial capacity in all but three South Florida counties, according to the report.

  1. Florida has a greater population than New York State, a higher median age, and with fewer social restrictions throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. By all indicators there ought to have been more Covid-19 cases in Florida than in New York State. Yet the Florida cases amount to ONE FOURTH of that of New York State. (Not to mention the fact that the United States death rate from Covid-19 per thousand of population is FIFTY times that of India. Go figure. Maybe we ought to look to Calcutta for guidance on social distancing.)

Tp paraphrase Dr. Henry Lee, the medical examiner who testified on behalf of O.J. Simson at his trial, “Sumtin’ wong. ……My opinion is sumtin’ wong.”
