The British Foreign Office is currently investigating a claim made by Hamas regarding the death of a British-Israeli hostage in Gaza.

According to Hamas, Nadav Popplewell passed away due to injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike over a month ago.

Popplewell, aged 51, was taken captive along with his mother, Channah Peri, on October 7th, when Palestinian terrorist animals breached the border fence, launching deadly assaults in Israel.

As of now, the Israeli military has not provided any comment on the matter.

A spokesperson from the British Foreign Office stated that they are actively seeking more details on the situation. They also expressed their condolences to Popplewell’s family.

In a brief statement released through the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, Popplewell’s family requested that media outlets refrain from airing footage released by Hamas on Shabbos, depicting him in captivity with visible injuries.

Foreign Secretary David Cameron, speaking to BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday, acknowledged seeing the video but refrained from providing further updates on the ongoing investigations. He emphasized the need for more concrete information before making any statements.

Cameron criticized Hamas for its actions, describing them as “callous” for releasing the video and playing with the emotions of Popplewell’s family.

Ayelet Svatitzky, Popplewell’s sister, previously recounted the harrowing incident last October when gunmen attacked the kibbutz in southern Israel where they resided, resulting in the death of their older brother, Roi.

Svatitzky revealed that she received two images from the attackers on her mother’s phone, showing Popplewell and Peri sitting in their living room, with “Hamas” written in English below. Later, a third picture surfaced on her mother’s Facebook account, depicting them alongside an armed Hamas militant.

Peri was eventually released in November during a temporary ceasefire negotiated between the Hamas terrorists and Israel.
