lazarThrown off the ballot by David Greenfield, former Council candidate Jonathan Judge endorsed Joe Lazar for City Council in the 44th Council District Special Election today, praising Lazar as “exceedingly qualified, experienced, and the only candidate in the race not propped up by a party machine.”

Judge, an independent conservative Republican who boldly challenged the backroom dealings of both the Democratic and the GOP bosses throughout his campaign, became the third former candidate in the Special Election to throw their support behind Joe Lazar. Judge, who ended his candidacy after exhausting his final appeal to David Greenfield’s court challenge, made it clear that he and his supporters were outraged at Greenfield for denying the people of the 44th Council District real choice in this election.

“I am proud to endorse Joe Lazar for City Council today,” said Judge, the day after the Appellate Division refused to overturn the judgment against him from David Greenfield’s lawsuit. “Of course, I am disappointed that the hard work of my many supporters has been snuffed out by Vito Lopez and his protégée David Greenfield through their manipulation of the courts and Board of Elections, but I am heartened by the fact that I can now direct my supporters to put their incredible enthusiasm behind a candidate as intelligent and qualified as Joe Lazar. In these desperate economic times, we can’t settle for anything less than a City Council Member of Joe Lazar’s proven fiscal responsibility and impressive experience in cutting the waste out of government budgets bloated with giveaways to special interests and pork.”

“I am thrilled that Jonathan Judge has endorsed my candidacy,” said Joe Lazar. “Jonathan Judge has impressed me from the start of this campaign with his command of the issues, his eloquence, and his energy. He is undoubtedly a rising star in his party and an invaluable member of our community. I am proud that Jonathan and his many supporters have joined our team in these critical last days before voters go to the polls on March 23rd. Our campaign has always been about unity and the fact that all three of my former opponents in this race – Jonathan Judge, Abraham Tischler and Nachman Caller -have all endorsed my candidacy shows that the closer we get to Election Day, the closer our community comes to truly achieving achdus [Hebrew for ‘unity’].”

  1. “. Judge, who ended his candidacy after exhausting his final appeal to David Greenfield’s court challenge, made it clear that he and his supporters were outraged at Greenfield for denying the people of the 44th Council District real choice in this election.”

Who wrote this stuff? The Joe Lazar PR press release? How dare you sell this as journalistic news?

People are “outraged at Greenfield for denying the people real choice in this election”???? Who are these people? And why are they outraged? Is it because Jonathan Judge didn’t do a good job in forging names in order to get on the ballot?

On another note, two things. First Judge is a sore-loser. He didn’t get the backing of the conservative party, and even within the GOP, he had a challenger (who, btw, is still running).

Second, Judge says that Joe Lazar is “exceedingly qualified, experienced, and the only candidate in the race not propped up by a party machine.”
really? Did you ever hear of The Dov Hikind Party Machine? If you never heard of it, look out.

  2. B”H we are all united behind Joe lazar (except for the previous two commentators, LOL!) The Aguda & OU are unofficially supporting Lazar although they cannot campaign with him because it’s illegal being that they are both 501(c)3 organizations.

  3. Dear neighbor,
I met Lazar and he is not at all weak on toieva marriage. He is strongly opposed. Don’t believe the lies being spread. I can only wonder as to who is spreading those lies.

  4. This endorsement is great for the Lazar campaign! Jonathan Judge is a true conservative who ran against all the political machines and back-room deals that have transpired in the race.

No question, the Lazar team has the momentum on its side.

  5. I was going to vote for Lazar, but when I heard Judge endorsed him, I decided to go with Ken Rice.

I have had the chance to meet him while he was campaigning, and he seems like someone who will really stand up for us when it counts, and he owes no one anything unlike these two Judge and Lazar.

I am telling all of my friends who were voting for Lazar now due to this endorsement, to now vote for Ken Rice.

From what I have heard Judge is a very shady character, and is not even welcomed in his own party.

Ken Rice however, seems like when the going gets tough, we can trust him, come election I urge everyone to vote for Ken Rice.
