Former Education Minister Gidon Sa’ar, in a recent interview, referred to the value of observing Shabbos and said, “”I enjoy Shabbos very much, as for those who have a very intensive life, this weekly timeout has even a greater value than usual.”
Arutz Sheva reports that Sa’ar said he took this step after a rov who was going to serve as the sandek at Sa’ar’s son’s bris couldn’t attend due to a health issue.
“So,” Sa’ar said, “I decided I will be my son’s sandek, but the rov told me that In order to serve as a sandek, I must keep Shabbos, so I swore and since then have been keeping Shabbos.”
