One of the Minneapolis cops involved in the death of George Floyd—which sparked a national wave of anti-Black police brutality protests in 2020—pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter Wednesday morning. Minnesota State Attorney General Keith Ellison called it an “important step toward healing the wounds of the Floyd family, our community, and the nation.”
In exchange for his plea, Thomas Lane’s prison sentence will be served simultaneously with his federal sentence for violating Floyd’s civil rights. One charge of aiding and abetting second-degree murder was also dismissed. Lane made his plea in the same courtroom where former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted in 2021 of Floyd’s murder after he placed his knee on the unarmed Black man’s neck for nearly 10 minutes, preventing him from breathing. The two other former Minneapolis police officers involved in Floyd’s death—Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng—will face a state trial in June for aiding and abetting second-degree murder and manslaughter. Read more at Star Tribune.

This country is all about adulation of criminals. Floyd, although he didn’t deserve to die, was no upstanding citizen and was also non compliant that day when officers ordered him to halt. Officers are not above the law but they should not have to punished to the absolute fullest extent of the law considering their commitment to society vs. the criminal’s adverse behavior. This is travesty at its best.
Commitment to society? They are committed to their paychecks, pensions, and feelings of power. Most police are rascals. They all do all sorts of horrible things to people. That’s why here they saw nothing odd about pining a man down and putting a knee on his neck. All 4 are guilty.
George Floyd died in 2016 in Corpus Christi Hospital, according to Texas Attorney Timothy Japhet. The entire episode and arrest were preplanned and staged for a false flag.
Couldn’t they keep the same actor playing cop?
This cop is no way the same as this:
