Authorities reportedly believe that former NFL player Phillip Adams was responsible for the Wednesday shooting in South Carolina that left five people dead, including two children.

A source who was briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press that the 33-year-old former football player killed himself in the early hours of Thursday with a .45-caliber weapon after allegedly going to the home of a prominent doctor, 70-year-old Robert Lesslie.

Lesslie, along with his wife, 69-year-old Barbara Lesslie, and their two grandchildren were all found dead by police with gunshot wounds, the York County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
