Fox News has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Tucker Carlson as he launched a competing series on Twitter. The initial two episodes of “Tucker on Twitter” garnered a combined total of 169 million views, significantly impacting the conservative media ecosystem.

The cease-and-desist letter is marked with a bold “NOT FOR PUBLICATION” notice at the top. Fox News continues to pay Carlson and asserts that his contract maintains exclusivity to the network until December 31, 2024.

Carlson, however, argues that his First Amendment rights allow him to post on Twitter and claims that Fox has breached his contract in substantial ways. His Twitter series initially featured monologues delivered directly to the camera, but he plans to expand the format with longer episodes, diverse content, and the inclusion of guest appearances. According to sources, notable figures are already being lined up for future episodes.

Justin Wells, Carlson’s executive producer, recently tweeted about the upcoming episode: “Next Episode of Tucker on Twitter coming Tuesday: Tucker’s response to the indictment of President Donald Trump.”

In response to the cease-and-desist letter, Harmeet Dhillon, one of Carlson’s lawyers along with Bryan Freedman, stated that Fox News is disregarding the interests of its viewers and its obligations to shareholders. Dhillon further criticized the network, stating, “Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, Fox is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election.” The statement emphasized that Carlson will not be silenced by anyone and will continue to be a crucial voice on matters of public interest in the country.

  1. Freedom. It has a clever asset.

Tucker did not entice my viewing. I viewed him as a comstock for gravy. Not on my burger.

  2. First they fire him and they then have the audacity to even expect him to stay quiet? Hey there foxxy pop, this is America and speech is not controlled. As long as he does not deface/denigrate, he is free to dpeak his heart and his mind! I’m all with the 2nd ammendment.
