According to French media, the 31-year-old male suspected of ramming a truck through a crowd Thursday evening in Nice, killing at least 84, has been identified as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel.

Reuters reports that he was a Tunisian who was legally living in France, and had a wife and three children. The news agency cited Tunisian security sources who said he was from the town of Msaken and was not known to have radical or Islamist views.

Local outlet Nice-Matin reported that Bouhlel was a delivery driver who has previous misdemeanor convictions. Officials reportedly searched his apartment overnight in the city’s northern district. Read more at BBC News.

  1. Please change his name when reporting on this story. I am very concerned that there might be some backlash against the Muslim community. We must show extra sensitivity to them and their religious practices.

  2. How can you publish a picture of Mohamed? I thought it’s against Shaaria law? Deport the family and no more government welfare for them. Investigate his mosque.
