The world watched on in shock and horror today as missiles fired from Gaza rained down upon southern Israel. Over 600 rockets were launched, landing in multiple cities. Homes, schools, and hospitals have been damaged, and four innocent Israelis have lost their lives. Tonight, children and their parents will make temporary beds on the floors of their safe rooms.

As always, stories have already begun to emerge of brave Jews who have risen to the occasion in the face of bravery. Volunteers from multiple organizations are on the ground in cities like Sderot, Ashdod, and Ashkelon, aiding those wounded by shrapnel, as well as the many civilians treated for shock. Donations are being collected to aid volunteers in their work, and to replenish their supplies. This is an opportunity for Jews abroad to take an active role in supporting Israelis during this challenging time.

In the meantime, sirens continue to sound throughout the country. It will be a sleepless night for much of Israel’s population.

  1. I would have thought that at least during SEFERIA everyone would have ACHADUS.The headline” Frum Jews Make Kiddush Hashem Treating Wounded Israelis”IS SO WRONG.The headline should read” KIDDUSH HASHEM JEWS HELPING JEWS”.

    • With soo much bashing the “frum jews”, saying something good about them should be a breath of fresh air.

    • Mr. Anonymous #1, When it comes to the Jews and the Goyim, the headline can and should be Jews Helping Jews. When it comes just to Jews, we have to understand that there are differences, and that difference should be pointed out. In fact, the fact that its different Jews helping different jews is a big Kiddush Hashem.

  2. Can we have the achdus, perhaps, even without tragedies? If so, maybe Hashem would not need to send us these tzaros? This is really common sense, but sometimes common sense is rare.

    • How true. As the sfas emes says on shelo echad bilvad amad aleinu l’chalosaynu: Shelo echad (when we are not b’achdus) bilvad (that is the only time) amad aleinu l’chalosaynu (that HKBH allows the goyim to rise up against us)

  3. The lack of achdus is caused by the people who disregard the Torah and the mitzvos. Achdus doesn’t mean one should just smile and nod their head as if nothing is being done wrong. Saying that anyone who doesn’t approve of your behavior is lacking achdus is just excuse to brush off your own guilt. Of course, I agree there is a proper way to be mkarev and bring people closer with warmth; however achdus does NOT mean live and let live, all is great, and if you stay away from me because of my bad influence then your the hater. Achdus means we have something uniting us—it doesn’t mean ignore my differences and what I’m doing because I’m not interested in changing. I’m not saying I’m perfect, I’m actually far from it, but I realize that I am the one who needs to grow, and I don’t think everyone who is better than me is the problem.
