Benny Gantz, leader of the National Unity Party in the opposition, released a video on Monday detailing the conditions that would enable northern Israeli residents to return home.

Gantz opened the video by saying: “The basic condition that would allow the residents of northern Israel to return home is the IDF’s freedom to operate against any violation by Hezbollah or other terror organizations.”

Speaking as ceasefire negotiations continue, Gantz said: “The IDF’s great achievements must lead to any arrangement in Lebanon being the basis for the security reality in the years to come. This is the only way to be able to return the residents to the north safely, and this is the only way to restore their trust.”

Currently, Yehuda and Shomron are divided into three sections: Areas A, B and C. In area A, the Palestinian Authority has full civil and security control, in area B the PA retains civil control while Israel handles security, while in area C, Israel has civil and military control. Nevertheless, the IDF routinely enters area A in places like Jenin to arrest terrorists and prevent terror attacks.

Referencing the situation in Yehuda and Shomron, Gantz said: “In southern Lebanon, we must work like in Area A : if the Lebanese government doesn’t act, the IDF will act forcefully.”

US special envoy Amos Hochstein will be visiting the region once again on Tuesday to work on details of a potential ceasefire.

  1. If Ganz wanted to have a say, then I guess he should have remained in the government. He chose to leave and give up his influence. Now he should be quiet.

    • Who can forget what this evil self-hating Jew said after the Meron massacre in 2021: “HIGHLIGHTS “DANGERS OF ULTRA-ORTHODOX AUTONOMY” as was reported here on Matzav.com.

  2. Why A? We don’t have to leave loopholes for any action we need to take. Make a new category stating that Israel can enter at will, whether in retaliation or as a preventative or deterrence. D. Or B by proxy, when the Lebanese do as they’re supposed to but allowing Israel full access as necessary. Obviously the ideal choice is Moshiach, which we’re not done enough to bring… (Yeh, I’m talking to myself.)
