In a powerful new kol koreh issued by leading gedolim across Eretz Yisroel, the Torah leadership strongly warns against the dangers of smoking and urged the public to refrain from this harmful practice.
The statement, signed by a prominent group of gedolim, underscores the serious health risks associated with smoking and reinforces the obligation to protect one’s health in accordance with Torah hashkafah.
The kol koreh cites the clear prohibition against knowingly endangering one’s life, as stated by halachic authorities. The gedolim emphasize that smoking has been unequivocally proven to cause significant harm and is therefore forbidden under halacha. They invoke the words of gedolim who ruled that any behavior known to cause danger is halachically prohibited, and they stress that smoking falls into this category.
The statement mentions the Chazon Ish, the Chofetz Chaim in Likkutei Amarim, Rav Ovadiah Yosef, Rav Shmuel Wosner, Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman and Rav Nissim Karelitz in urging people to avoid smoking.
The kol koreh bears the signatures of Harav Berel Povarsky, Harav Dov Landau, Harav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, Harav Dovid Cohen, Harav Avraham Salim, Harav Yehuda Cohen, Harav Meir Mazuz, Harav Yigal Rozen, and others.

And recent findings show that vaping is even worse.
Ditch both
Did they include that everyone should wear seatbelts in cars and helmets on motorcycles???
What kind of world do we live in when we need gedolim to tell us something that has been known for decades in order to stop people from doing dangerous things.
Doug:
Look at every shul. Perhaps there is no smoking inside. But during times of traffic around tefilos, there are quite a few smokers. The Purim smoking is similarly disgusting. And there is lots of scientific research about the dangers of a single cigarette. It’s not even a behavior that we consider “at risk”, with otherwise from people, ostensibly shomrei Mitzvos engaged in it. Our Gedolim, who have actually been saying this for years, have equated it with the most serious Torah violations.
There several seforim dedicated to the subject. When we hand out tzedokoh where the money will simply pay for cigarettes, we are NOT fulfilling a mitzvah, and might actually be assisting in an aveiroh.
As long as you don’t own a smartphone, everything is good and fine.
Is there any mention of vaping?
According to health expert and whistleblower Dr. Bryan Ardis, nicotine found in cigarettes is a very strong deterrent for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Covid, Autism, etc. They’re banning it like they’re banning the Ivermectin cure which is not dangerous to people but dangerous to Big Pharma’s pockets.
Very long overdue to address this issue, which was never a concern to anyone till now! Inly technology was the concern. Even Rav Moshe Feinstein who “דבר שדשו בו רבים . שומר פתאים השם .Upon consultation of גדולי ראש הישיבות, they agreed with me that Rav משה would have never said such a thing today, after it has been proven unequivocally
that even second and third hand smoke is harmful!
Shomer פתאים is ONLY ,שייך to say for oneself, but you CANNOT be a פתי, ON YENEM’S חשבון!!!!
Well, this should change everything and soon.
