Israeli Chief Rabbi Rav Dovid Lau disqualified a man from becoming a state dayan due to his refusal to give his wife a get, Haaretz reported. Rav Lau knew the man and happened to notice his name while reviewing a list of candidates for the position.
Rav Lau instructed the rabbinate to vet future candidates and have them sign a guarantee that they have no criminal background or any involvement in get refusal.
