Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) has called for the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is investigating alleged war crimes against the United States and its allies, including Israel, and is allegedly working with individuals and organizations with ties to foreign terrorist groups.

In a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, Biggs—chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and a member of the House Judiciary Committee—cited a report from the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) that shows “troubling parallels between the ICC’s investigation of the U.S. and that of Israel.”

Biggs called for the DOJ to “take appropriate action with respect to shocking information alleging troubling ties between the International Criminal Court; key non-governmental organizations driving the ICC’s investigations of the U.S. and Israel; and U.S.-designated foreign terrorists and Foreign Terrorist Organizations.”

In June, the Trump administration authorized sanctions against ICC officials who are investigating alleged war crimes against the United States and its allies, including Israel—a move Biggs applauded in his letter.

The administration also authorized visa restrictions on Thursday against ICC officials and their family members.

Neither the United States nor Israel is a member of the court in The Hague.
