Jackson Lahmeyer, a pastor who is running against GOP Sen. James Lankford in the 2022 Oklahoma senate primary, said that the U.S. is “upside down” if Kyle Rittenhouse is sent to prison while Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, can walk free, according to Newsweek, The Hill reports.

Lahmeyer called Rittenhouse, who is on trial for fatally shooting two protesters and injuring a third last year, an “American hero” and said that Fauci should be imprisoned, Newsweek reported.  “They worship a mass murderer. He belongs in prison,” Lahmeyer said during a Facebook livestream Tuesday, referring to Fauci, per Newsweek. “But Kyle Rittenhouse, who defends himself against a convicted pedophile, a convicted woman-beater, is fighting for his life not to go to prison. Our nation is living upside down right now.”

According to Newsweek, Lahmeyer has vowed to call out Fauci on a daily basis and has said the infectious diseases expert is the “greatest con man in the United States of America, who’s gotten away with murder.” Retweeting the Newsweek article about his comments, Lahmeyer added, “Anthony Fauci needs to be fired, arrested and convicted for crimes against humanity.”
