jesse-koczon[See earlier report here.] Gov. Chris Christie often reiterates to the press that when he says something, he means it. Apparently, would-be governor Jesse Koczon is the same way. The 5-year-old’s aspiration to be the chief executive of New Jersey was no joke.

The Old Bridge boy made headlines last week when an impossibly cute YouTube video that features him crying about being “too small” to be the governor of New Jersey went viral. Today, he gets his wish.

Christie will sign a proclamation today at 3:30 to make Koczon honorary governor for the day. Christie will deliver opening remarks before the proclamation signing, said spokesman Kevin Roberts.

“We thought it would be a nice thing to do to bring them in,” Roberts said. “It sends a good signal to kids around the state who are public service-minded to keep their dreams alive.”

Koczon will be joined by his brother, also in the video, their parents, Dawn and John, an uncle and possibly a grandfather as well.
Christie used his Twitter account last week to comment on the video, writing, “Don’t worry Jesse, people gave plenty of reasons why I couldn’t be Governor, though being too small wasn’t one of them.”

The family will meet privately with the governor beforehand and take a tour of Christie’s office.

  1. Huh? Is this what kind of Governor we have? To irresponsibly hand over the reigns to a child? I hope this is a joke.
