Schools in the nation’s largest school district and throughout New York State will remain shuttered through the end of the school year, Gov. Cuomo announced Friday, confirming what educators, union leaders and Mayor Bill de Blasio had said was inevitable weeks earlier.

“We don’t think it’s possible” to reopen schools “in a way that would keep our children and students and educators safe,” Cuomo said.

De Blasio announced April 11 that New York City’s 1,800 public schools would not reopen until September, but Mr. Cuomo said he alone had the authority to rule on school reopening dates, and said the mayor’s ruling was merely his “opinion.”

  1. Please be more accurate in the title and write …To Be Closed For Rest of School Year.
    It’s a bit misleading.

  2. Can someone explain this?
We all understand that as difficult and “bidieved” as the current school situation is, we accept it because we understand that having our children plating, sweating, and just around so many others may bring some tragedy into our own homes, chas v’sholom.
So why are camps opening? A lot more physical activities? In far smaller living spaces? With who knows what?
Are we being responsible people by sending our children to camp?

    • Who says camps are opening? The decision is to be made by the Gov in the end of May. Imo i believe camps & bungalow colonies NEED to open for the mental health of all parents & children. At this point there will more mental health tragedies than corona virus. Scary scary times. And if you don’t know what I’m referring to then lucky you.

  5. So basically another of the Shalosh Rigalim bites the dust. Shevuos will still find ourselves in quarantine. No staying up all night. 5 minutes on the couch and it’s sayonara. No Shul no Rav no yud gimmel midos no duchening no bracha. More negativity from the medical “experts” with all their threats and klalos etc… Very sad depressing situation. Will this EVER end???

    • Calm down and take it easy. This is just about schools, it is possible that they will allow shuls to open before that.

  6. Does anyone know if this affects yeshivos which are more like colleges. Are they also included in that order? Or is it only for elementary and high schools?

  7. Who’d send their children to school if there are still Invisible Enemies (Deep State criminals) roaming around? Aren’t you afraid they’d grab your kids off the street or retaliate at schools or groups, esp now that the borders are closed?

    • No I’m not scared of the deep state. I am however scared of UFO’s. I don’t want them to take me back to their planet as food. I saw what happened in “V the Final Battle”. I hope I’m not abducted by aliens. They would never let me daven with a Minyan, even before they eat me. Yikes.

    • You’re rant is totally incoherent, those of us who do not inhabit your planet of conspiracy theories have no clue what you are talking about.

    • Real News is not for everyone. Certainly not for those who’ve been brainwashed from fake news for dozens of years. That being said, Real News has recently started infiltrating mainstream media to slowly slowly wake up the sleepers.
