paterson915Gov. David Paterson says he plans to clear his name soon in two scandals threatening his administration. Paterson says he’ll speak with the attorney general’s office and the Public Integrity Commission to present his side of the story.

Speaking in Manhattan this afternoon, he repeated that he has no plans to resign. The good-government group Common Cause, which has supported Paterson, called for his resignation earlier in the day, saying the scandals are distracting him from addressing the state’s fiscal crisis.

Paterson has a public event later Friday and his schedule for next week is being released.

The attorney general is investigating whether Paterson illegally contacted a woman who had accused one of his top aides of domestic violence. The state’s ethics commission says he violated a gift ban.

  1. they all say that. it’s only a matter of days that he will say as all others in his position that he is really clean, however this has become too big a distraction to govern NYS & he’s leaving in the interest of the PEOPLE
    good riddance!
