koselAs mispallelim braved the rains and visited the Kosel this Monday morning, a man burst onto the scene with yells and curses. He railed against Israel’s “occupation,” and then spray-painted the word “Palestine” on the stone wall separating the men’s  section from the visitors’ section, and on the barrier adjoining the ezras noshim.

The man was described by onlookers as being “odd,” News-1 reported. He was arrested by police stationed at the site.

Rav Shmuel Rabinovitch, rov of the Kosel and mekomos hakedoshim, ordered the graffiti to be cleaned immediately. He expressed sorrow over what he called “the desecration.”

  1. How did he get spray paint past the xray machines at all entrances to the Kosel? A revamp of the security there is in order, I think.

  2. Well done to Rav Shmuel Rabinovitch for acting so swiftly. Some places in the world should be free of ugly graffiti. I am glad that the awareness level in the Western Wall Plaza is so high.
