Graham: No One Will Follow Amash’s Lead On Impeachment

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., says President Donald Trump should agree to reopen the government and continue trying to hammer out a deal with Democrats on funding his long-promised border wall — but that the president should declare a national emergency if no progress is made in three weeks. Sen. Lindsey Graham predicted on Tuesday that Republicans won’t follow Rep. Justin Amash’s lead on impeaching President Trump, noting that Democrats who supported impeaching Clinton weren’t “held as heroes.”

Asked how important he thought it was that the House Freedom Caucus member was saying special counsel Robert Mueller’s report described Trump as engaging in “impeachable conduct,” Graham fired back: “Zero.”

“I don’t think anybody is going to follow his lead. I don’t think there’s going to a stampede based on what Amash says,” Graham told reporters outside of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
