matzohWith just over a week left until Pesach, hundreds of individuals who are wheat or gluten intolerant are still without matzos. The shortage of matzos this year has been a concern for many families, specifically those with celiac disease, who rely on gluten free oat matzos for the Seder night.

For many, this is the only time during the year when they make the brachah of hamotzie.

In a last-minute effort to solve this dilemma, the celiac foundation of Bnei Brak is getting ready to bake another batch of gluten-free oat machine matzah.

At the same time, the Lakewood Matzah Bakery is making efforts to solve the shortage of spelt matzah in Eretz Yisroel. The Lakewood Matzah Bakery will be flying in hand spelt matzah produced in the Lakewood bakery, as well as shipping back spelt machine matzah which was baked in Eretz Yisroel.

  1. For anyone who needs:
The number for the celiac group for gluten-free matzo is 054-859-4794.
I also someone advertising spelt matzo at 077-901-5645.

  2. I was lucky enough to get matzos (hand made) by the same place I buy every year. But not everyone was lucky. You had to order before hand and even then when people arrived they were missing.

The problem is that last year they made way too much. So they figured this year they’d cut back (even with pre-orders???) But in reality it’s always going to be hard to know exactly how much to make. Each year more and more people find out they can’t eat wheat matzos and need davka gluten free. I hope next year they’ll be make better calculations based on previous years and taking into account those that will “just find out” this next year…
