Most of the members of the Habayit Hayehudi Knesset faction support the election of Tzefas chief rabbi Rav Shmuel Eliyahu as Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel. Haaretz reports that at least seven of the 12 Habayit Hayehudi lawmakers would support Rav Eliyahu for the post.
Rav Eliyahu has not formally declared his candidacy, and in recent weeks he has been seeking support for his candidacy elsewhere. Rav Eliyahu is accompanied on his visits to these leaders by Rav Simcha Hacohen Kook, the chief rabbi of Rechovot. Read more here.
