Ateres Shlomo is now the first yeshiva allowed by the Health Ministry to return to full functionality, following two weeks of learning in “capsules”, small groups of students in outdoor areas. During his drasha, Rav Sorotzkin emotionally declared the unforgettable words, “On the day that our yeshiva reopened, the pandemic stopped!”
Ateres Shlomo’s branch in Rishon L’Tzion was the first yeshiva to institute the “capsule” system, conforming to all social distancing guidelines. Two weeks later, on Tuesday, May 19, they were allowed by the authorities to learn in the bais medrash, once it had been confirmed that none of the bochurim were COVID-19 positive.
Rav Sorotzkin expressed gratitude to Hashem for the merit of having Ateres Shlomo chosen as the first yeshiva allowed to return to its bais medrash, describing this as a great Heavenly kindness and urging every bochur to join him in thanking Hashem.
He added movingly, “We have experienced two amazing weeks of learning with diligence and devotion; two weeks of drawing close to Hashem. During these two weeks, our lives were completely dedicated to the Ribono Shel Olam.
“I would like to note an amazing thing about those two weeks. Anyone who has paid close attention can see that from the time the yeshiva reopened, the pandemic stopped. Look at the great change that has occurred! It all began on the day we opened. This is a clear symbol of the power Torah has to protect and save us.”

WHY NOT IN THE USA????
This is a profoundly stupid statement. The coronavirus pandemic is not over yet by any stretch of the imagination.
I find it frightening that such a fool will be considered tomorrow’s גדול.

mamash not! There are yeshivos learning in capsule for a while already. Besides, there are yeshivos that were back learning by rosh chodesh; following common sense guidelines to be safe…
So how come the pandemic , brought by HKB’H , closed the yeshivos in the first place ??
The question should be: How come HKB”H allowed evil ones to bring about a man-made plandemic causing yeshivos to close?
“… from the time the yeshiva reopened, the pandemic stopped.”
Wasn’t this yeshiva open when the pandemic started? It was. So, what kind of causal relation is the Rosh Yeshiva trying to convey between his yeshiva’s reopening and the pandemic? Furthermore, the corona epidemics has been slowing down in Eretz Israel considerably before his yeshiva reopened.
Reverse thinking:
The day the yeshiva was allowed to open the pandemic stopped.
DUH. The reason the yeshiva was allowed to open was because the pandemic stopped.
Just Wondering,
We’re talking about three weeks ago, check the dates and you will see…
The yeshiva reopened yesterday. The corona epidemics started to slow down in a marked way in Eretz Israel about two weeks ago. The fact that the talmidim of this yeshiva learned in small chaburos dispersed at safe distance from one another has been practiced by other yeshivos as well, both in Eretz Israel and Chutz La’Aretz. So what’s the Rosh Yeshiva’s chidush?
The PANdemic, as in global epidemic, is still raging, and actually increasing in many countries.
As far as Etetz Yisroel is concerned, the reopening of the yeshiva was allowed BECAUSE the number of cases dropped, rather than the other way around.
It also started when the Yeshivah started Bain Hazmanim pre Purim (as is minhag Erez Yisroel Yeshivas)
Maybe Rav Sorotzkin will start a updated minhag and keep Yeshivas open until Erev Yomim Tovim and cut out the summer ‘vacation’ as well.
That would save the world in many more ways.
