Hamas officials said Sunday that they had located the bodies of three Israeli hostages killed during the war, according to statements made to Al-Hadath.
Earlier that day, reports indicated that members of Hamas’s military wing accompanied Red Cross personnel into the Shuja’iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. They were joined by engineering vehicles as they searched through the ruins for the remains of the captives.
The day before, Israel’s Institute of Forensic Medicine completed its analysis of the bodies that Hamas had previously transferred to Israel. Experts determined that the remains did not match any of the identified hostages.
Meanwhile, the IDF has asserted that Hamas is in possession of at least two Israeli bodies that could be handed over without delay. Military officials also believe the terror group has lost track of several others, estimating that between three and five hostages’ bodies remain unaccounted for.
