Two highly classified ISA (Shin Bet) reports, delivered to the Prime Minister just days before the tragic events of October 7th and revealed by Channel 12 on Thursday, highlight the defense establishment’s significant misjudgment.

These reports were composed during the violent clashes along the Gaza border, which served as a distraction for planting explosives later used by the Nukhba Force terrorists who breached Israel’s borders.

The ISA reports assert: “The renewal of the quiet-for-concessions agreement between Israel and Hamas will ensure long-term stability. Hamas continues to follow Sinwar’s strategy, pushing the terror group’s objectives without resorting to war.”

The reports further note that “the latest period of tension concluded favorably for Hamas, as it achieved economic gains without being drawn into military conflict. Efforts should be made to establish a framework that delivers substantial benefits to the Gaza Strip to preserve calm.”

The ISA confirmed the authenticity of these quotes but claimed the leak was biased, stating that it “conveniently left out the fact that the mention of an understanding with Gaza was tied to the advancement of a hostage deal. Additionally, a statement by the ISA director, which stressed the need to ‘maintain a high level of readiness for a campaign in case of an emergency in the area,’ was omitted from the same sentence.”
