Explosions were heard early Sunday when air raid sirens went off in the Netivot region at about 7:50 a.m., triggered by a rocket barrage launched by the Hamas terrorist group. Military officials assessed that the rockets originated from the Khan Yunis sector.

The IDF later confirmed that radar picked up two incoming rockets. One was shot down by the missile defense system, while the second landed harmlessly in an open field. According to Magen David Adom, no injuries were reported from the incident.

In the days leading up to this attack, the IDF has stepped up its campaign, conducting multiple airstrikes on Hamas positions in Gaza City. These strikes come in advance of a ground incursion authorized by the security cabinet. Military officials explained that the bombing serves as a warning of the coming ground offensive and is intended to push civilians to leave the city before it begins.

Once preparations are complete, the IDF plans to surround Gaza City and launch the full-scale ground maneuver.

  1. Lipa asks an excellent question.
In addition: The soldiers and commanders are sincere; the Ramatkal fail to do their job (both Hertzi and Zamir).
Baruch Hashem, the zechus of the Baba Sali protects Netivot, as it did on Simchat Torah/Shemini Atzeret/Shabbat 2 years ago.
