Hamas on Wednesday released previously unseen video footage of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, who was held captive by the Palestinian terrorist group in Gaza for five years.

Shalit, who was captured in a cross-border raid, was freed in 2011 as part of a deal in which Israel released more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

A part of the newly revealed footage was apparently filmed close to the time that Shalit was released. The captive is seen wearing the shirt that he donned upon his return to Israel, and is flanked by two armed and masked Hamas terrorists. In another section of the footage, Shalit is given water by a Hamas operative, and smiles.

Shalit’s father, Noam, told Israel Hayom, “Gilad and the rest of the family want to protect our privacy and go back to living a normal life.”
