Hamas Says PA Staged Assassination Attempt Against Own PM


Islamist militant group Hamas on Saturday accused the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) intelligence service of staging an assassination attempt against its own prime minister in March.

Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah escaped unscathed after a roadside bomb exploded as his convoy raced in to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip on March 13, further imperiling the already fraying reconciliation process between Hamas and its Western-backed rival PA.

In a press conference on Saturday, Hamas’ interior ministry blamed the PA’s intelligence service of targeting the convoy in order to disrupt the reconciliation process between Hamas and the PA.
