Israeli security forces have uncovered compelling revelations during the interrogations of captured Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists.
In their testimonies to the IDF’s Unit 504, some terrorists disclosed how these extremist groups exploit the presence of Gazan civilians and manipulate their living spaces to advance their terrorist activities. Shockingly, these individuals, despite being aggrieved by the terrorists’ actions, refrained from organizing protests against Hamas.
Zohadi Ali Zahadi Shahin, a Hamas operative in the Shati Battalion, confessed during his interrogation that Hamas obstructed Gazans attempting to move southwards to Rafah. Instead, they were redirected to Shifa Hospital, where the terrorists sought refuge underground. Upon realizing the IDF’s approach, they surfaced on the ground floor where civilians were seeking shelter.
“We have someone from the Algero family on the mountain who passed this on to me, Abu-Mahmoud Hals,” Shahin said. “Someone from the family took explosives in order to bury them It’s maybe two meters from his apartment to there, after all, his apartment is on the asphalt.”
“He went down to [the terrorist] and said, ‘Man, how do you plant explosives by the door? If this explodes, my children and I will be gone.’ [The Hamas operative] told him, ‘If you don’t like it, get out of here, it’s none of your business.’ He said to the Hamas operative, ‘How is this none of my business, man? These are my children. This is not ok.’ And [the Hamas operative] told him, ‘This is the explosive, I’ll place it even if you don’t like it. And I’ll even place it between you and your wife,'” he said.
A chilling account surfaced from a member of the Algero family, who confronted a Hamas operative planting explosives near his apartment. The operative callously dismissed the concerns, stating, “If you don’t like it, get out of here, it’s none of your business.” When the resident protested, highlighting the risk to his children, the operative callously threatened to place explosives even between him and his wife.
Muhammad Darwish Amara, an Islamic Jihad operative from the group’s Gaza Brigade, reluctantly admitted that a Hamas member planted a bomb in his apartment where his children resided. He expressed his realization that they were being used as human shields by the Hamas operatives, compromising their safety and well-being.
Amara further narrated how, despite receiving IDF instructions to move south and escape the conflict in northern Gaza, Hamas operatives prevented his family’s departure and coerced them into Al Shifah Hospital. Disturbingly, when IDF’s arrival was anticipated, the terrorists living beneath the hospital sought refuge among civilians, using them as shields and expressing a wish for the IDF to stay, if only to alleviate their dire circumstances.
